doing a creative writing thesis on SF and needing recommendations

hi folks! can anybody recommend books and/or literary criticism involving science fiction? i'm doing a sci-fi novella, and if you guys know any that have very strong existential themes (although most sci-fi, if not all, has 'em, IMO), especially if these have anything to do with colonialism, mind suggesting any? Thanks!
