The Revived Tolkien Trivia

How weak a quotation there!

*mutters* Well, if you want to play it this way...

:p

What do you want - a picture? How the hell else can I reference a map??

Difficult to tell at times!!:D

Well, assuming I'm correct (heavy irony!):

Who did Bilbo pass on Dain's gift to?

"I beg of you," said Bilbo stammering and standing on one foot, "to accept this gift!" and he brought out a necklace of silver and pearls that Dain had given him at their parting.
"In what way have I earned such a gift, O hobbit?" said the king.
The Hobbit, Chapter 18: The Return Journey

The king being "the Elven king," of course.

Correctamundo - and far too quick!
Your go, and a new silver bell (remember?:))

Oh, the bells... Yes, I keep them in an old shoebox under my bed!

Which words isn't Bilbo allowed to use near Beorn?

Furrier, Rug, Cape, Tippet, Muff.

(Gandalf said) ...and in the name of all wonder don't mention the word furrier again as long as you are within a hundred miles of his house, nor rug, cape, tippet, muff, nor any other such unfortunate word!

The Hobbit, Ch7, Queer Lodgings

Yep! but accurate!

Who was the Captain of Gondor against the Witch-King of Angmar?

Never. And last of all from you!

Fear fell upon all who beheld [the Witch-king]; but he singled out the Captain of Gondor for the fullness of his hatred, and with a terrible cry he rode straight upon him. Eärnur would have withstood him; but his horse could not endure that onset...

Hey, I had a birthday to attend! Anyway...

There's a day when no month ever starts. Which one is it?

Friday.

It will be noted if one glances at a Shire Calendar, that the only weekday on which no month began was Friday. It thus became a jesting idiom in the Shire to speak of 'on Friday the first' when referring to a day that did not exist, or to a day on which very unlikely events such as the flying of pigs .... might occur.
LotR, Appendix D: Shire Calendar, footnote.

Nine ships there were: four for Elendil, and for Isildur three, and for Anarion two...

The Silmarillon, Akallabêth (The Downfall of N
úmenor)

(returns bell, reluctantly.);)

Away you go, Marky!:D

Gimme! Gimme!

What type of verse does Strider cite to the Hobbits--after Samwise asked--when they're heading for Rivendell?
