The Revived Tolkien Trivia

All right, y'all are giving me a complex! :D

The dark waters in question lie on the route of the Grey Company.

Still nothing? Have you all turned into Rip Van Winkle? Look to Gondor for your answer...

The tall bowmen Derufin and Duilin(returned not in triumph) to their dark waters: according to the song of an unnamed songmaker of Rohan 'The mounds of Mundburg.
TheBattle of the Pellenor Fields

That's the one.

A memorial bell to you with apologies for the delay in replying (been a crazy week here!), and the next challenge is yours, sirrah!

Was it the Oliphaunt in the song that Sam sings?

Grey as a mouse
Big as a house
Nose like a snake
I make the earth shake
As I tramp through the grass
Trees crack as I pass
With horns in my mouth
I walk in the South
Flapping big ears
Beyond count of years
I stump round and round
Never lie on the ground
Not even to die
Oliphaunt am I
Biggest of all
Huge, old, and tall
If ever you'd met me
You wouldn't forget me
If you never do
You won't think I'm true
But old Oliphaunt am I
And I never lie

Sorry DG not to have replied earlier.
Yes of course you are correct. Well done.

An earthshaking bell to you, and the next question.

That would be young (?) Gimli
Although, of course at the time he thought it was Saruman's hat.

"Speak, or I will make a dint in your hat that even a wizard will find it hard to deal with."
The White Rider.

Thank you DG.

So who had locked doors and closed windows in their mind?

Goldhawk is definitely closest.

I'll add a bit that probably won't help.

Who had locked doors and closed windows in their mind and dark rooms behind them?

Okay, I am guessing as a novice to this thread (I've read the books three times, but have a horrible memory), but the added bit, farntfar, made me think of Gollum...perhaps when Frodo and Sam were his wardens...or maybe Faramir, when Gollum was captured?

edit--Oh! Too late! :)
