need help to rediscover forgotten book

Hi,
I have been trying to re-discover a sci fi book I read, probably in the seventies, might have been in the eighties.

The plot revolved around an 'american-indian' reservation where native scientists were secretly bulding a space ship to escape persecution and earth.

Hope someone can remember this one,
