This kind of evolved out of the 6 word story thread, so here goes!:)

A simple exercise, sort of like rhyming couplets, but not exactly (it doesn't have to be of equal length.) I'll give the first part of the 'couplet', and the next person has to complete it so that it both rhymes and makes sense to the first line. Then, post one of your own, so that the next person can continue. Easy!

For example:

A sunny day, a meadow, and a spreading tree...

..With a drink in my hand, that's where I'll be.

Sort of like that. I hope this works.:p

Ok, to begin, then:

Today I walked through lonely city streets...

And it's got to scan as well, doesn't it, Talysia?:)

Oops, didn't realise you'd begun! Sorry!

Today I walked through lonely city streets...

Today I walked through lonely city streets...

I heard the cities heart, I felt those pounding beats.

When walking through the city, in a merry sort of way,.....

When walking through the city, in a merry sort of way...

I found a shiny penny, which really made my day:)

Skies darken, wind howls, and an eerie sound fills the air...

This kind of weather plays havoc with one's hair!

(Speaking from experience there :p)

Rain against the window, clouds in the sky...

Who's that in the sitting-room, frolicking...Oh My!!

As I was a-walking, in Old London Town...

I happened upon a merry Irish midget named Joctor Joe John.

In the fish's eye sparkles the gem of the sea...

Diamonds, pearls, sapphires... They're all the same to me.

Joctor Joe John adds a skip to his step.

She really likes the "Village Peeps", especially "Go West"!

So, "all the worlds a stage", is it? I'd really like to know...

Because most of my life so far has been just like a Broadway show!

The candle flickered and died, leaving me sitting in the dark...

People! Go buy lightbulbs! Trust me, you should hark.

Walking along the high street, I found me a shoe...

I tried to pick it up, but it was stuck there with some glue!

I walked past a wishing well, but had nothing to throw...

So about it I made a poem... shame it doesn't flow.

Sorry! I couldn't think of anything else!

When answering a poetic post I couldn't think of anything to say...

You'd be surprised how much that happens, it always works that way.

The day breaks, and warm light fills the sky...

My heart breaks, as soon away she'll fly...:(

My heart is hers. Alas, she knows it not..
