Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation (2004)

Hmm, I like Richard Burgi (he's been in 24, Firefly, and a bunch of other stuff), but I don't think it would be enough to make me watch this. I might look out for the trailers and decide then.

7.22: The Lost City (Part 2)

Mmmm. Interesting finale. I actually mustered up some tension at one point in there. I enjoyed this episode - I watched it and part one back to back, and I have to say this was the best SG1 has been for a while. However, this didn't really feel like an introduction to Atlantis to me - how...

    5.16: Shells

Indeed SOMEONE MUST LIVE! However Highlander II is right - no one really gets to be happy on any of Whedon's shows... so even though I was completely spoiler free, as soon as Fred and Wes started in with the lovey dovey we're so happy stuff I knew something bad was coming. I felt like...

    The Doctor (Christopher Eccleston)

MMMmm, good choice. I don't think I have seen anyone suggest Eccleston anywhere before, so I'm glad that it came out of left field. He certainly is a very good actor, so should bring some gravitas to the role (I'm sorry, I don't think your Eddie Izzards or Alan Davies could have done that)...

Angel's Fans Taking a Page from the Farscape Book

I just thought that the supporters of other shows might have shown up a little at least. I think a similar poll last year had Angel come out on top, but without such an enormous margin of victory. I am actually starting to believe that we might get a season six.

Angel's Fans Taking a Page from the Farscape Book

85%!!!!! I actually wouldn't have guessed that it would have dominated the poll so completely. Thanks for the link Tex.

Day the Earth Stood Still, The (1951)

I think this is one of my all time favourite scifi movies. I love the SF of the 50s that had a social agenda behind it, and this is a perfect example of the genre. Haven't seen it for a while though, but I think it is pretty cheap on DVD, so I might have to pick up a copy.

    Ginger Snaps (2002)

Me neither - it seemed a bit overdone, and not very well meshed with the rest of the film, which emphasised psychological horror a bit more than physical horror imo.

Top 10 things Wrong with Star Trek

Nice link Dave, those were pretty funny. Especially the one with the Firefly reference.

Trade Paperbacks: format of the future?

When I think of trade paperbacks I think of collected issues of comics. You are talking about something different? The books you are discussing sound like the softback-hardbacks that are available at the airport. Basically they are the hardback version (huge dimensions, large print), but...

Whedon gets Firefly film deal - it's really happening folks!

I came across some casting notes on www.buffy.nu, but be warned - don't read them if you want to stay spoiler free for the film! They give away a lot of hints about the content of the movie.

    The Wicker Man (1973)

To be honest, I don't really think it seemed that dated. I could imagine that village looking essentially the same today as it did when this was filmed, although I suppose the element of hippy cultishness wouldn't be as relevant today. Edward Woodward was great - and even though I thought I...

    5.13: Why We Fight

The Prince of Lies was pretty funny - obviously the inspiration for 'Nosferatu'? I had a love-hate relationship with this episode. I was pretty involved in the young sailor's predicament, and I felt so sorry for the way he felt at the end. But I just couldn't buy Angel setting him free - I...

    Story snippets: Clone Wars

There's a review at www.aintitcool.com of chapters 11-20. Don't go there if you aren't looking for spoiler though, as the storyline for each ep is discussed.

This was my favourite part: I laughed so hard it hurt.

    New pilot shows for 2004

Arg! Did you see the 2002 Time Machine? It was utter dross! I think my tv watching times are coming to a slow close...

    Angel Finished

Positive thinking Obcooke - I doubt that Whedon will fade into obscurity and never give us any more Buffy-verse stories other than an occasional comic book, but darn it, I started out season five thinking it was going to be the end, and whaddyaknow? I was totally hooked in a matter of episodes...

    Angel Finished

I know, it's awful. I was wondering if WB is calling it quits because of money. That's why Buffy left the WB for UPN after all. And I have some vague recollection that UPN has some stake (pardon the pun) in picking up Angel if it ever gets cancelled by the WB. Things are sounding...

    Angel Finished

*sniff* I just woke up to this news today. I am not amused... What on Earth is going on? Angel has been getting strong ratings this season, and even though I have doubts about bringing Spike in, I thought things were starting to move towards a conclusion of the overall arc. They must...

UK TV showing BSG 2003 - Sky Movies I'm afraid

I just caught an ad on Sky One for the miniseries. Apparently it is being shown on Sky Movies 2, for those of you that have it. I don't, but sneakily managed to catch the show elsewhere. I recommend giving it a look, especially now that we know it has been given the go-ahead by SciFi US as a...
