    Best smartphone?

Brother in law updated via iTunes (today) said he only needed 1.2Gb. If you do it via WiFi, apparently the rest of the 5Gb is for self-back-up.

    Best small tablet?

Have you considered the Samsung Note 8? It comes with the amazing S-Pen and not all that big. Specs here I use a Note 10.1 and love it. If you want smaller the best is probably the Note 3 (or new Note 4) phablet. Specs here (3) and Here (4) Good luck!

    Best smartphone?

Totally agree with you! I've gotten several free songs and albums from the Google Play store, but never had one added to my library without my consent. I have declined to "buy" several offered for free that did not interest me.

    Best smartphone?

I strongly believe that Android is better than iOS for the simple fact that it allows you to choose from a vast array of OEMs Samsung, Sony, HTC, LG, even Huawei and then choose the screen size and bells and whistles that best fit your budget. Case in point, my wife uses a Samsung S4 mini, I...

    History vs Cinema

One example of terribly wrong "historical" films is "The Sound Barrier" (1952) it does not even try to get things right and a lot of people who saw it believed for years that the British were the first to fly supersonic. Even today, the film description from IMDB says :"Fictionalized story of...

    Silicon Based Life

The problem with silicon is that it has a bond energy of 53 (silicon-silicon single bond) but the silicon - hydrogen bond is 75 and the silicon - oxygen bond is even higher - 88. Therefore silicon will under normal circumstances (in an oxygen or hydrogen rich environment) not bond with other...

What If Nazi Germany Had Recognized The Potential Of Jets Early On?

True enough, however, this was mostly a strategic mistake by the Germans, especially Hitler, who abandoned their initial objective of destroying the RAF shifting to a terror bombing campaign. Had they stayed the course they may have won out, with the aircraft they already had. The main...

What If Nazi Germany Had Recognized The Potential Of Jets Early On?

It is also important to note that the ME 262 while faster than anything the allies had, was not very maneuverable or reliable and several were shot down as they were landing (slow and near the ground) where they were easy targets, this practice was called "rat catching". Not very sportsman...

Thanks! That's the idea. At first I though I might sit this one out, but then I had the germ of this plot grow in my head. Hope you enjoyed it!

Worst Sci-Fi movie of all time

Avatar  Why Disney would want to make a theme park (addition) out of this terrible, (thinly disguised, political) film is beyond me. (On Disney forums, I find no one really excited about it either). Besides cool film making technology, the story didn't resonate. Even though...

    First Short Story: Power-On

Corrected story: Power-On Just before activating the switch that would ‘give life’ to the first practical humanoid robot, designed for mass production, my business partner, a sensitive soul, once more begged me to reconsider. “Are you sure about this Bill?” Tom sighed. “Come on...

    First Short Story: Power-On

Thanks for all the great critiques! I admit that I have this tendency to think some of my ideas are obvious and therefore I leave out information the reader may need. Also I will work on developing the characters and adding some action, rather than just conversation. One note I'd like...

    First Short Story: Power-On

Submitted for your critique, is a short story. Though not a writer, I do like to write, just for the fun of it. Granted my grammar, especially my punctuation could use some help, but I refuse to hide under the “English is not my native language” excuse, so please feel free to critique me just...

    Interstellar - trailer

Can I inject a bit of real science here? Sorry, but if he's going on an "Interstellar" voyage, there is no way he's coming back... well at least not before his kids (and everyone else he knows) are dead from old age. Just saying...

What was the last movie you saw?

I suggest you give it another try, I really like this one. There is a good curve thrown near the end. One of the better elements of this film / Graphic Novel is the fact that, ultimately even superheros cannot escape their humanity, specially Rorshach, except for Dr. Manhattan who... well, I...
