    Space Opera

Timothy Zhan is another author who comes to mind although the Swiss cheese of my brain will not kick out any titles right now.

looking for low-fi, sci-fi book suggestions!

You might find The Host by Stephanie Meyer fits what you are after. It is an unusual alien invasion with a relatively small cast of characters.

    Lucifer's Hammer

I always thought the movie The Postman was built on Harry the Mailman although a pale job imo.

Looking for books set in the future of warfare?

Yes, that is correct. I knew my memory was faulty but was too lazy to look it up.

Looking for books set in the future of warfare?

Hammer's Slammers. I think the author is Gordon Dickson but my memory is not certain. Even even though they were written awhile back they really touch on the changes brought on by tech like you referenced. Body armor, artillery from space etc.

    Hells' Foundations Quiver

I was able to borrow it from the library. I enjoyed it a great deal. In any world war scenario the cast of thousands gets difficult to follow of course but the scene changes and associated cast of characters were easy to follow for the most part. My sense of the main story is that it moved...

    The Road to Hell

I assume so Parson although I recognize the danger in assuming anything.

    The Road to Hell

I wonder if it will have the same feel without Linda Evans? I sure hope so.

    Hells' Foundations Quiver

If the paperback comes in at 14.99 I will definitely hit the library :) I expect 9.99 and that the ebook will drop to that so then I can buy.

    Hells' Foundations Quiver

A new book in the safehold series but they want $14.99 for the kindle book so I will have to wait for the price to drop when it becomes available as a paperback, simply too much for an e-book.

I want to read a book about/featuring dragons

Totally agree and the many sequels make good reading also.

    Stories in the Honorverse

Chris, Clearly not finished but highly entertaining even so. Again the possibilities that you pop into these continue to astound me. You are a veritable cornucopia of interesting tidbits. The two mothers bursting in laughter was genius, bringing such a common human experience to the interplay...

    Stories in the Honorverse

Chris, I want to boost Parson's comment 100%. There were times it really did feel like Weber was writing and I say that with great admiration of Weber and your ability to capture that feeling. I too found the additional story lines hinted at to be beguiling. Well done!!!! Tim

    Stories in the Honorverse

Chris, please do not limit these to Parson. I am reading them all and loving them. I think you have really hit on something with this entire idea of expanding treecat involvement with human society and the military in particular. Really good idea and you are providing really good little story...

    Opinions on David Weber

I take your point but think your timeline is a little long. If the clamps come off technology 300-500 should do given the knowledge base in the computer. Just look at our own real history on earth and where the last 300 years have taken us.

    Opinions on David Weber

No argument Parson but he has the Safehold series to finish and just put out the first new book in his fantasy series, title is The Sword of the South, which definitely needs at least one and probably more books to wrap it up so it is not like he does not have material and I am pretty sure it...
