    three ingredients for good fantasy

A lot of times, people write what they hate in fantasy books. I'm asking about the opposite. What do you want in a fantasy story? What do you think a fantasy story needs to be worth reading? If you have more than three, share what you come up with anyway!

    Favourite Ray Bradbury story?

Yeah, I like the shifts he makes from one point of view to another. Very clever, and very effective. Have you read the Dragon? From one point of view, it's a knight stalking a dragon, then it shifts to the engineer driving a train... I thought that was cool. Oh crap. That's a spoiler, isn't it?

    Favourite Ray Bradbury story?

Do you have a favorite Ray Bradbury story? I like the Illustrated Man stuff. I thought that was a very clever way of putting the short stories together. I like the story about the kids who were addicted to the virtual nursery. The Veldt. Very insightful. I don't remember the name of it, and...

    DS9 vs. TNG

Yeah, Enterprise was lame. As for DS9, I guess the characters were potentially more interesting than TNG. It seemed like most of the stories were based on Worf, Picard, and obviously Data. Other than that, the other characters were rather empty. More strange alien characters in DS9. Maybe I'll...

    DS9 vs. TNG

Good point. Star Trek involves trekking into space. DS9 didn't bother. Are you referring to the new Star Trek by JJ Abrahms or whatever his name is? If so, I thought that was pretty good. You should give it a chance. It's very different, but very cool. I'd like to see a sequel.

Which season of heroes was your favorite?

I agree! I like the part when the guy who could blow himself up got his head cut open. That was cool. I was hooked ever since. Up until season two.

    Authors missing in the sub-forums?

Which authors do you think are missing from the sub-forums? I think they should include Ray Bradbury and R.A. Salvatore. Which of their works are your favorites?

    Different approach to time travel

That's the biggest conundrum of fiction. You want to make everything seem life like and real and yet no one ever goes to the loo.

Help list alcoholic drinks by country?

What about Sangria? And Absinthe? Spanish and French (I think Swiss) respectively.

Leading the enemy astray (plotting issue)

They get attacked by the monster you introduced in chapter three. Then the scout escapes to rally her troops to counter attack the enemy base. Dramatic battle, final confrontation, badda bing, badda boom, the end.

    What is The Write Fantastic?

The best way to introduce Fantasy to people who aren't familiar with it is to make more Conan movies and less Eragon movies.

    Rome vs Sparta

Watch out for troll language! And by the way, I'm pretty sure the Ancient Romans conquered Ancient Greece. And isn't this argument kind of like asking, "Who would win in a fight, Nazis or Americans?" Rather strange debate, no?

    Favorite X-Men Mutants.....?

Multiple Man is the best. I'd like to have his power so I wouldn't have to worry about the unbearable lightness of being.

Robert E Howard - Conan and Friends!

Did anyone read the old comic books? I thought those were cool. By the way, I'm excited about the movie, but I don't expect it to be very good... :(
