    GRRM's writing

This thread got me thinking, Brian. A short while ago, I read an article regarding some of the most successful books of the modern era (sadly, I can't seem to find it now, however), and the two series' it highlighted were Twilight and Harry Potter. The reason why the author of the piece chose...

What was the last movie you saw?

The Lone Ranger. It got torn apart by the critics and, for me, that just helped to heighten my intrigue, and, as a result, I'm happy that I watched it. I found it thoroughly enjoyable.

    Short Opening - 350 words

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to comment. I'm in agreement with everyone in regard to the pants but, just as a side note, I'd imagined the protagonist to have certain psychological issues - OCD being one of them - so I'd assumed this is how one's thought patterns might behave under...

Thanks, Aber, that's much appreciated. And, TDZ, you'd better get your skates on; I can't wait to read it myself now. Also, thanks for my first review in what seems like forever, Victoria. And, of course, Parson, for the wonderful poem. How very kind of you. You've just made my day, all...

    Short Opening - 350 words

Okay, since I've been busy being sleep deprived by my wonderful newborn son, being generally cantankerous, and have developed the attention span of a hyperactive newt, I haven't really had time, recently, to flex my creative muscles. And rather than dive straight back into editing my WiP, I...

Thanks, Springs. :) He's a wee boy. We've named him Tristan - taken from Arthurian legend - and he's adorable. His big sister thinks so, too. :) I hope you're well.

I've actually managed to post a story. Whoop! It's been longer than I care to remember, but I guess that's what having a newborn does to you. Perp may disagree, but I'm not quite so super. ;) Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed writing it, and just hope it doesn't take as long until my next one. :)

August 2013 -- SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE -- VICTORY TO HEX

Re: August 2013 -- SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE -- READ FIRST POST The Apostate Ah, sweet freedom. It felt so good. Seventeen years inside the Atrium was enough to break anyone. Daniel had survived. The implants hadn't completely distorted his humanity: his will remained...

Discussion Thread - SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE March 2013

After a hectic February and March, I've finally managed to throw something together. I was really disappointed that I didn't make last month's challenge, but was adamant I wasn't missing another. So, there it is, I'm in. I'm sure it could've been better but, on the upside, at least I posted, so...

March 2013 -- SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE -- VICTORY TO THEDUSTYZEBRA

Re: March 2013 -- SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE Stalked in the Night Romain Ba'alabo, the Night Stalker, watched from the shadows, his jet black, unkempt hair whipping against his face, stinging his blood red eyes. Captain Nebula reached down, teeth sparkling, to tousle the child's...

    Great Apps for Writers

Kingsoft office. It's a neat little office program (who'd have guessed with a name like that, Right?), and pretty much the best I've tested. Great for writing on the go.

Semi colons in speech/ direct thoughts

I haven't read through anyone else's comments, so please forgive me if I'm being repetitive. I've read a few books, recently, by Simon R. Green, and this was one of the things I noticed. He used semi-colons during both speech and thought, and my initial reaction was, really? Can you do that...
