Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan are really good. I found his Egyptian series to be a bit average compared to the Greek books but he redeemed himself with the Norse books. I have enjoyed all 3 that have been published.
Actually as much as I love those choices, Culain from Stones of Power in his prime would beat anyone. The power from the stone combined with having a sword of power would make it pointless. Also I think people underestimate Tenaka Khan when they shouldn't.
I am with the crowd that believes his works would make a better tv show than movie. Jon Shannow would make a great lead character in a show. Waylander or Druss would be possible too but you would have to have the right people playing them. Waylander could be played by Manu Bennett who played...
I am convinced at this point that it won't ever be finished. Honestly I don't know if I even care anymore. The last 2 books have been disappointments. The show actually fixed a lot of things that were wrong with them with my only gripe being how they handled Dorne's storyline. That seemed...
It would make sense that I am writing in a style similar to Gemmell since he is my favorite author. I didn't realize I was doing that actually. I might need to go back and reread some of his books to see how he pulled it off so easily.
My wip is a fast paced multiple pov fantasy story. I was wondering if anyone had read something similar in style and how they liked it.
Any comments are appreciated.
Drenai Series by David Gemmell. His Stones of Power series is really good as well. In fact just read everything that the man ever wrote. Even his worst book is better than a majority of things you will read. I am also a big fan of the Chronicles and Legends Trilogies from Dragonlance by Weis and...
Well, after about 2 years of writers block I am finally working on my first novel again. I am around 75 pages in to what will more than likely be around 400 pages when its done. For the longest time I couldn't write on it because of some confidence problems that came about because of this site...
I agree that it helps if you try to reinvent them a little. I recently started working on my project again after 2 years of writers block and part of what helped me break it was the stereotypes. I have a group of elves who broke off from the others after a civil war, led by a power hungry evil...
As I have said on several occasions I don't believe he will finish the series. Honestly at this point I don't know if I even care if he does or not. The last two books have been meh and honestly I believe the guys on the show have written a more interesting tale over the last few seasons. They...
I'll believe its coming out when I physically see it. Until such a fantastical time as that might happen I will oblige myself to watching the show. The stuff they have changed has been overall for the better anyway. A few things could have been done better but oh well. A tv ending is still...
I think the Running with the Demon trilogy that starts all of the saga would make a great trilogy of movies actually. As far as the original books are concerned, I have always loved his writing. The people that bash him as a Tolkien rip off are a bit full of it in my opinion. If having fantasy...
