    Favourite Batman?

I would go with Adam West, too. Sorry. I can't take a "serious" Batman, and camp is good

    SG-U: 1.10 Justice

I wonder who the bigger "jerk" is, I'd go with Rush, who resorts to really dirty tricks to secure his position and to destablilze the Destiny community

    Best Fantasy Cities

I think Coruscant is the ultimate city city.

    SG-U: 1.10 Justice

Young had to get rid of Rush after his guilt was exposed, if Young was to stay in command. Neither Rush nor Young has acted with much integrity. If Rush continues in the series, he'll definitely find a way back, and the only outcome can be "High noon time" between him and Young

Possibly crazy musings about Star Wars

I have to agree that the midchlorian thing was a disappointing theory, and a good solution to the problem is just to assume that GL via Qui-gon were deluded or at least misled - that is, it's crazy. As for Yoda's species, was there ever any other member of that species anywhere at any time?

    Why detective SF?

Science Fiction and Detective are a mixture of my two favorite genres, and i think they mix well. Seems the best are the classics. I enjoyed both Gil Hamilton and Wendell Urth. Asimov seemed to enjoy writing stories that contain a puzzle. In the Star Wars universe, you have the Jax Pavan...

    Does Trek canon still exist?

It seems two new canons have been created, one from the movie, and the other from the novels with the Borg invasion. I'm reading Losing the Peace, it seems like the Star Trek world after the Botg invasion is a depressing place in more ways than one.

2.01: The Curse of Cornelius Sigan

Great! Loved the first series. Unfortunately, here in the States we won't get it until much later. Even the trailer wouldn't play, just the message "Not available in your area" Wonder if it's in Canada?

Winds of Dune (Caution! contains series spoilers)

The Winds of Dune, by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson This is the latest in the Dune series, which has gotten quite prolific - perhaps a never-ending franchise. Brian, of course, is the son of the late Frank Herbert, writing in association with author Kevin Anderson, equally prolific. This...

Which was the greatest ancient empire?

I'd have to go with the so-called Byzantine Empire, which was actually the millennial continuation of the Roman Empire, perhaps better the Eastern Roman Empire. It provided stability directly dor the Mediterranean world and indirectly for Europe and the Missle East, and provided a high degree...

    Warehouse 13 on SCI FI

Started watching about half-way through the series. It's interesting enough, nice characters and curious artifacts that require a bit of suspension of belief. The most recent episode was set almost entirely within the warehouse, a;mpst on cue from jojajihisc.

Colour Photographs from Tsarist Russia, 100 years ago

Here is my favorite Russian picture, a group of merchants from 1850, I wish it could be colorized.

    Chronicles of Narnia

Everyone recognizes that there is Christian allegory in Lewis. (Some of us are not put off by it!) There is Christian allegory in Tolkien, too, though he was 100x more subtle about it. I think Lewis (and Tolkien) thought that many more people would be amenable to Christian ideas if it was...

Colour Photographs from Tsarist Russia, 100 years ago

Those are some of the most fascinating photos I have seen! Great! Foes this mean that all ancient photos can now be colorized?

    Humans Not Meant for Space

Artificial gravity. Now there's an idea. How do they do that in Star Trek??? Maybe the installation of a mini-black hole???

    Humans Not Meant for Space

To return to an old topic, I came upon an old Discover magazine(November 2007), which said: "1. Nearly every astronaut experiences some space sickness, caused by the wildly confusing information reaching their inner ears. In addition to nausea, symptoms include headaches and trouble locating...

Stargate Universe. Anyone interested in this?

Do you know when the first episode will actually be broadcast? It's different for Britain and the U.S., I think.

Stargate Universe. Anyone interested in this?

I think there's a new Stargate series coming out soon, set earlier than the others, but i'm not sure of the details.
