The Winds of Winter publishing date guesses?

Wow, that's a scorching hot take! I could definitely get behind this theory. I'm also losing interest. I rarely even think about it anymore. Just this morning I remembered I hadn't checked this forum in months. Looks like I'm not the only one. The TV show is where it's at for me now. I'll find...

The Winds of Winter publishing date guesses?

I chose December 5th, 2016 which I doubt will happen. My real guess is still Never. I don't think it has anything to do with his side interests, either. Everyone has more than one interest, especially outside of their job. I think the guy is just seriously burned out and uninterested in...

Does the series give proof to some book theories?

Haha, I wasn't talking about alliances with that statement....

Does the series give proof to some book theories?

Dany is Jon's aunt. She's Rhaegar's sister. They could marry for political purposes but I highly doubt they'll be falling in love or anything, either in the books or the show. Targaryens married brother to sister for hundreds of years so aunt and nephew isn't a stretch. My money is on Dany...

    Arya, Jaqan, and The Waif

This is true in the books (I think) but in the TV show Jaqen has already shown he can disguise himself as people who are still alive. Remember when Arya was pulling off all of his faces and her own face was one of the ones she pulled off? The TV show has different rules apparently.

    Arya, Jaqan, and The Waif

My guess is that Arya's training isn't really over. This whole thing might have been a test for the Waif as well as Arya. The Waif has hated Arya since she arrived which means she isn't exactly "no one" as well. The Waif has made it personal since the beginning and probably doesn't even realize...

    Arya, Jaqan, and The Waif

It's the only motive I can think of. He killed more than one life in "exchange" for his at Harrenhall but I still think he feels like he owes his own life to his god. Arya was just following the rules he stipulated and he seems like the kind of guy that would pay that back with his own life as...

    Arya, Jaqan, and The Waif

Actually came here to post this exact theory but you beat me to it. The only thing I can add is that I think Jaqen sacrificed himself because he still owed his life to Arya from back when she told him to kill himself at Harrenhall. He's all about making sure the Many Faced God gets His.

Does the series give proof to some book theories?

The show's producer called Benjen "Coldhands" in the behind the episode thing after last week's episode. That doesn't necessarily mean they are the same person in the books, but they are in the show. ETA: GRRM denying that Benjen is Coldhands literally came from a handwritten note in a copy of...

Does the series give proof to some book theories?

I feel like Roose is way too smart in the books to be killed by Ramsey. Add to that that Ramsey doesn't seem as smart and cunning in the books and it adds up to it being unlikely that Roose dies by his hand. In the books, Roose had a true born son and he knows that Ramsey killed him. Ramsey...

TV series to ruin further reading....rant.

I've also stated repeatedly right here on these forums that I think ADWD will be the last book we ever see published. I'm still sticking with that. I'm totally fine with finding out the major plot points (e.g. who are Jon's parents) from the TV show. Other than that, the show and TV show are...

A Song of Ice and Fire: 6 delayed... (again!)

Sure, if all you care about is just the basic plot points. Have you ever read a book *after* watching its movie or TV show? Did knowing what was going to happen ruin your enjoyment of the book? "Spoilers" just aren't that big of a deal.

The Winds of Winter publishing date guesses?

Ah, thanks. Even after you pointing it out I could still barely tell the difference in colors between the link and the regular text. Anyway, interesting opinion. I replied to her post. The basic gist of what I said was that I don't think being "spoiled" by a TV show or movie necessarily ruins...

A Song of Ice and Fire: 6 delayed... (again!)

I am so going to win the "Guess the publishing date" thread. I said December 6th, 2016. The Winds of Winter publishing date guesses?

The Winds of Winter publishing date guesses?

I disagree here. If anything, the quality of AFFC and ADWD went down in comparison to the first three books due to the lack of an editor who could rein in GRRM which led to a lot of bloat. I say that as someone who enjoyed AFFC enough to read it three times. However, I read ADWD once and have no...

The Winds of Winter publishing date guesses?

Just start watching the show (if you haven't already) like I'm doing! I got HBO on Sling TV and I'm going through the entire series in preparation for season 6. I know the show and the books diverge quite a bit but the major questions will be answered (What happened to Jon Snow? Who are his...

Spoiler for TWOW - Show Runners may have given something major away...

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/24/game-of-thrones-jon-snow-parents-theories_n_7654748.html Another huge spoiler coming out of the show. At this point I love that the show is going to actually give us some freaking answers next season since I still doubt we'll ever get the answers in a book.
