2.08: Game of Thrones - The Prince of Winterfell

So, when does Jaime lose his hand? I was sure Catelyn ordered it before she freed Jaime. I'm re-reading the books now but not up to that point yet. I sure hope they didn't leave that part out, because it was fairly important in the book.

    The Season 1 Appreciation thread

I give the first season an A- I'd give it an A+ if there had been: - More wolves - More of Bran's wolf and crow dreams. - Fewer added scenes that served no purpose other than narration and sex for the sake of sex. There was plenty of sex in the books, and those scenes were fine, but those...

1.10 Game of Thrones - Fire and Blood

I think the finale was one of the best episodes yet! The final scene with Dany and the dragons was just as I imagined, and I think it will do a lot to 'hook' people who are new to the story into watching again next year.

1.10 Game of Thrones - Fire and Blood

I agree it's been a first-rate production, especially when you compare it to cut-rate crap like Merlin and Legend of the Seeker. But you have to admit they have cut out an awful lot of what was in the book, hence the 'Reader's Digest' assessment.

Game of Thrones HBO - Disappointments, discuss.

I have to agree. I thought the scene was very well written and acted.

What Character's Portrayal do you Like Best?

I have to agree. There are quite a few who are very good in their role, but she has been nothing short of perfect.

What Character's Portrayal do you Like the Least?

I didn't realize I could select more than one. I chose Lena Heady as Cersei. I loved her in The Sarah Conner Chronicles, but as Cersei she lacks fire and passion. She seems like she's just sleepwalking through the role. Maybe the writers or directors are to blame, because she is a good...

1.10 Game of Thrones - Fire and Blood

I wish there were at least 20 episodes. They could almost do one episode per chapter and then it wouldn't feel like a Reader' Digest version. It's sad they they are leaving out so much of GRRM's brilliant story.

1.08 Game of Thrones - The Pointy End

GRRM proved with this episode that a script writer can stick to what's in the book and it works just fine. In fact, this is the best written episode so far. Hopefully for season 2 the writers will take heed of the negative feedback for the scenes they've added and stay true to GRRM's masterpiece.

1.07 Game of Thrones - You Win or You Die

I mainly just wanted to make a point that scenes that are added purely to provide some of the narrative that was found throughout the book don't have to be porn just for the sake of porn. The books have plenty of sex in them, but all of it seems to fit perfectly within the story. Most (if not...

1.07 Game of Thrones - You Win or You Die

I agree with you and 'I, Brian'. I'm not a prude, and I enjoy a good sex scene as much as any other guy, but this felt like porn thrown in for the sake of showing porn. Yes, it did allow Petyr to present his POV, but that could've been done in many other ways. The Jaime/Tywin conversation...

1.06 Game of Thrones - A Golden Crown

What I liked: Dany & the heart Jorah confronts Viserys about the eggs Viserys gets his crown Bronn is Tyrion's Champion Roberts slaps the $#!t out of Cersei (well, sort of) Ned accepts his hopeless situation Bran's 3-eyed crow dream Sansa being a bitch to Septa Mordane Disappointed: No...

Game of Thrones HBO - Disappointments, discuss.

I'll have to go back and check the book, but I was sure Bran's wolf took out at least one of the wildlings. I am real disappointed about how they are cutting the dire wolves out of the story.

1.05 Game of Thrones - The Wolf and the Lion

Yeah Ursa, I know he used to write for TV so I'm sure he knew what would happen. But I can't help but think that it has to hurt a little bit to see so much of his brilliant writing end up on the cutting room floor. You know how much effort he puts into choosing every single word to make...

Ok so who knew about Loras and Renly before the series?

My only complaint about the scene is that the writers have cut out SO much to fit everything in 10 episodes, why add entire scene that expands on something that was only hinted at in the books and has no relevance to the story. They did it just for ratings.

Game of Thrones HBO - Disappointments, discuss.

My biggest complaint is that the writers are cutting out so much of what made the books a masterpiece, yet they find room to add scenes like Renly+Loras that, at best, were only slightly hinted at and have no bearing on the story. Some added scenes are fine because they take the place of...

1.05 Game of Thrones - The Wolf and the Lion

I'm sure he is happy about it on some levels - it is financially rewarding, his characters have 'come to life', and he has become even more famous. On the other hand, if you spent almost two decades creating a work of art how would you feel if it was sold to the masses with much of what made it...

    So, Where is Ghost?

It seems they did save him for a dramatic entrance, but then he disappeared again.

1.05 Game of Thrones - The Wolf and the Lion

I agree with everything you said here. If GRRM had written the Renly/Loras relationship this way I would be OK with it, but he didn't. I think it was only added because the trend on TV nowadays is to have at least one gay character on every show. The writers are butchering the books so badly...
