I found it! It's Ivan Yefremov's Andromeda (1957). I might've mixed some of the details with another book of his written in 1968. It is about the same society although with different characters. I couldn't find it translated in English but the title is something like The Bull's Hour. Worth reading!
Hi everyone!
Here is the new challenge:
What I remember for sure is that the author was Russian. I read this book some 18 years ago (when I was a teenager) and my memories are quite hazy but still there are some details I remember well enough. It was also in Bulgarian and I'm not sure it has...
Could it be Samuel R. Delany's Prismatica? I haven't read it and I have no idea what it is about but this is the only one that has anything to do with prism in the title.
Definitely not :(. This virus I'm talking about affected all people, not only women.
It was a long time ago I posted this and there are lots of new people in the forum so I still hope...
I vaguely remember reading a story about a robot working on Mercury (or maybe not - all I remember for sure that it was very hot and they worked only at night) and purposely walking on the sunlit side of the planet. As far as I remember he wanted to kill himself or something although I'm not...
there's a book (not a story) - "The Simulacra" by Phillip K Dick, but it doesn't sound like the one you're looking for. Anyway, check it here:
The Simulacra by Philip K Dick
Hey guys! You're great!!! Now I have a long and wonderful list of books and stories that will keep me occupied for months! Keep on posting! And I'm going on a library raid!
Well, that was fast! Thanks Iansales! Nice and impressive list - it's in my bookmarks now.
What I had in mind, though, were your personal experience and impressions - a book that made you remember it.
Hi again!
This time I'm not looking for a book that I've already read but quite the opposite - something I've never come across. I'd like to read something about humans (or any kind of creatures) that have telepathic, telekinetic and/or empathic skills - something like Joan D. Vinge's "Cat"...
What about this one (I copied the anotation from a site):
In the Shadow of the Gargoyle (1998)
An anthology of stories edited by
Nancy Kilpatrick and Thomas S Roche
This is the first and only collection of new and classic stories inspired by the gargoyle creatures. Includes tales by Harlan...
Try this site: Fantastic Fiction - you can search authors and book titles. There are anotations and cover photos for almost all the books so if you have the time and patience to check all the 767 matches for "earth" maybe you'll manage to find the one you're looking for :)
Good luck!
