    Ryse: Son of Rome

I actually enjoyed the game quite a bit; the story isn't as grandiose as other games that take place in the same era, but because of that I felt it was a bit more grounded to me.

IGN's impressions of the HBO series teaser.

It's been a long time since I've posted on these forums, but I read this article and couldn't help but share it with my fellow GRRM fans. Here are some impressions from IGN on the new ASoIaF series, who've seen 15 minutes of footage from a Game of Thrones at a recent television event. I...

To put the writing a side?

Honestly, you may be able to resolve some of your woes with simple time management. I used to consider putting my writing on hold to cater to my other responsibilities -- freelance designer, part-time technical director for a record label, and (the most important job of all) full time dad. But...

    inFAMOUS

I really liked the demo. Unfortunately I haven't been home and cannot play the full version until we're out of the hospital with our son. I've missed quite a few games these last couple of months. OT: So how was Prototype? (the inFamously similar game)

Has Final Fantasy lost it's charm ?

I never saw a trailer for it, since I purchased the import. Even when it finally came to the states all I saw was a massive poster at my local Electronics Boutique -- or KB Toys, or wherever I ended up grabbing it. I never caught any of the Final Fantasy commercials -- I vaguely remember seeing...

    Game Hauls

Blu-ray was actually developed by a group of companies (although it was headlined by Sony, they do not own the sole rights to licensing, as many assume), which include LG and Panasonic -- meaning they do not need to pay associated licensing fees to use the technology. So to answer your question...

Has Final Fantasy lost it's charm ?

I know; what were they thinking?

    Game Hauls

Very doubtful, indeed. Microsoft (and Sony) is pushing heavily toward a complete Digital Distribution model; live-streaming and downloadable content are their obvious goals. Embracing a tangible media player would be a step in the wrong direction, and a message to consumers.

And it can play MGS4 (TAKE THAT PC!).

Has Final Fantasy lost it's charm ?

Yes, exactly. Take Dragon Quest IV for instance. I just recently played through it on the DS -- having neglected the PS2 import for a while now -- and I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, had it been released as DQIX, if SE had told us "Here, this is our new Dragon Quest product," I would've...

Has Final Fantasy lost it's charm ?

I should've clarified, but I wasn't trying to say that an older gamer in 97 would've thrown their nose up at FFVII. It was the only thing like it during its time -- at least in the console market -- and was thus the quintessential RPG experience. I believe younger gamers continue to enjoy the...

Has Final Fantasy lost it's charm ?

Part of what you said goes back to an earlier post I made about age being a large factor in how we perceive and judge a particular experience. So I'm not entirely surprised that new, younger gamers are having similar experiences with FFVII. What I meant above was not so much that the younger...

Has Final Fantasy lost it's charm ?

I think we split hairs (amiably, of course), and it's funny that we continue to do it, because we largely agree with another on most points where VII is concerned -- despite feeling different about the overall experience. And it's funny, because we've all seen the FFVII PS3 demo, and have heard...

    Read my EQ Addiction blog!

As an avid (and, thankfully, former) MMO player, I can definitely relate. I played Ultima, EQ, and tons of others before starting Lineage II, which became my poison of choice and did for me what EQ did for you. I led a clan there for several years, participating in server changing political...

Has Final Fantasy lost it's charm ?

I use "boutique" because that's what my mother used to call any store selling a specific item. Trust me when I say, I spend very little cash on clothing. It's Old Navy, American Eagle, Target, and the like for me. Occasionally, I will indulge in some pricier clothes, but only when I've come to a...

    Need help with grammar

I think it would be forgivable if it were being asked/stated through dialog, and there was plenty of context working as a preface. However, although it would be forgivable in my eyes, the character asking the question (or making the declarative statement) would need to speak with the same...

    High-clarity fonts.

Courier New is my poison. Not only are Courier fonts -- save the bold variants -- a standard where submissions are concerned, they're also clear and easy to read (seems obvious this is the motivation behind the former).
