Travelling copy of Small Gods - anyone interested?

I'm moving soon and have a heap of books I don't want to take with me. I've got a copy of "Small Gods" by Terry Pratchett here that I'm planning to release as part of the Book Crossing program. I usually leave books at bus stops or other public places but since becoming a member of these forums...

    Complete collection?

Thanks for the suggestions and the link to the complete works (is that legal?) - I'll read a few online and then perhaps buy a book or two based on what I think.

Book Crossing - anyone interested in some Ursula Le Guin books?

Any other Book Crossers interested? I'm moving soon and have a heap of books I don't want to take with me. I've got a few tatty, battered Le Guin paperbacks here that I'm planning to release as part of the Book Crossing program. I usually leave books at bus stops or other public places but...

    Shadow and Claw

I found the books to be the same. I came back to the series a few times with great difficulty. On my fourth try, I stuck with it and it turned out to be one of my all-time favourite books. I still don't understand most of it but it has certainly left an impression.

    Homophobia?

At the risk of getting flamed by fans of Orson Scott Card, I'm just wondering if his writing (or the man himself) is as homophobic as I've heard/read other people say. I've heard a lot of great things about this guy but the whole homophobic thing has put me off. Can some true fans set the...

    Complete collection?

I'm new to Lovecraft and was just wondering if there is a collection of his complete works available. Would be nice to have all of his stories in the one place...

Encoded message found in 2nd hand Pratchett book

Travelling copy of "Small Gods" I just picked up a $2 ex-library copy of "Small Gods" from a second hand bookstore. I've registered it on Book Crossing and was planning to release it into the wild then thought that someone here might like it. If you want it, please PM me and I'll post it to...

Encoded message found in 2nd hand Pratchett book

I don't give away new books that I've bought, just second-hand ones that I've picked up really cheap. There's a charity book store I go to sometimes that always has books that cost only a few dollars. I feel $2 is a small price to pay to read a book and then enjoy the idea of it travelling...

My Book Crossing username is "sparrowhawk81" if you want to take a look. I tried posting a link straight to my profile page but I'm not able to post URLs yet.

Encoded message found in 2nd hand Pratchett book

Well, passing it on to a friend is your best bet. I've released around 20 books and only a couple of them have been reported on Book Crossing, so it's a bit of a gamble. Hopefully they will show up one day...

    Unseen University Cut Out Book!

It's basically a cardboard model of the UU that you cut out from the book and glue to together. Like gluing together the net of a cube except a thousand times harder and probably a lot more fun. It's a replica of the resin UU made by the Cunning Artificer, who also made models of other...

    Unseen University Cut Out Book!

Wow! Saw this at my favourite book store today. I used to love doing these things as a kid (never had any luck with plastic kits) so was thrilled to see that I can now make my very own cardboard Unseen University, from the Tower of Art to Modo's gardening shed. I probably won't get it though...

Please help a newbie out! Small God!?

When I first read it at about age 16, I didn't like it all that much. I just re-read it, aged 25, and now it's one of my favourites. Between 16 and 25 I've learnt a whole lot more about philosophy and religion, so there's a whole lot of stuff in there that wasn't funny to my 16 year old self...

The Book of The New Sun

This book damn near blew my head off! Some bits didn't make any sense but that's my problem, not Wolfe's. I fully intend to read it again soon. Amazing stuff...

    Philosophy of the Discworld

I'm a casual fan of those "Philosophy of..." books, like "Philosophy of The Simpsons" and "Philosophy of Superheroes". They are generally well-written and do a great job of exploring philsophical themes through popular culture (and vice-versa). What would people think of a "Philosophy of the...

    Reading Order for Discworld novels?

I don't think reading order is all that important. I just read them as I found them at the library and I turned out just fine. In fact, the Discworld series is probably the only one where in some cases reading a later book adds meaning to an earlier one, unlike other series where the opposite...

    disc world covers

I think the new black covers are fantastic. Very slick. It seems that they've only done them up to "The Fifth Elephant". After that, the covers still have the original illustrations. I'm a bit anal when it comes to consistency, so I hope they eventually reprint them with the black covers as...

Encoded message found in 2nd hand Pratchett book

Have you heard of Book Crossing? It lets you register books online before 'releasing' them in public places for other people to pick up. Each book you register gets a unique code so that you can find out where it has ended up (providing, of course, the person who finds it goes to the website...
