Tor opening for short fiction 1st October

I sent something in yesterday, it's around 3000. Not holding my breath; serious competition for a Tor slot, with lots of well-established authors in the mix. But hey, I figured I might as well!
Well my first attempt confused most of the betas.

I've recently joined and have been perusing the site and found all sorts of great material. I'm really glad I caught this one because I think I have just the story the might accept. Thank you for the info.

I just sent em' a story rejected by someone else.
My pulse is now pounding, my blood pressure is now rising, palms sweaty & I don't know if I can take months of this type of suspense! AH!

Yeah I wonder how long it will take them. On the Grinder, it says they currently have 86 pending responses, and that is just that one site. But to be fair, if they weren't open for submissions for most of those with an average of 110 days waiting, they wouldn't have replied to them.
Will probably be a long haul. I like how they say, send one, if it's rejected send another...This could take a while!

Well, what's cool is that they allow simultaneous subs, so I plan to take advantage of that.

Yes, most reasonable places realise you can't put your life on hold while waiting for your piece to be fished out of the slush pile.

I'm so glad that was caught early. Yes I made an error and confused it with another site I visited that same day. Tor's exact words were, "please don't."

Well, I'm in. Let's see. In the meantime, I have a new short that needs writing, as well as that ol' book of mine to get back to.

Aye, I ended up doing that [I'm impatient ].
Now I'm wondering if it's worth writing a novella and just keeping it somewhere for when that window opens (a follow-up to the Zodiac Eclipse serial could work nicely in that regard).

I submitted a 'short' for this a couple of days ago... My only worry is that it weighed in at a hefty 15k!
They did say potentially up to 17k didn't they?
Remembering that Tor.com also has a novella imprint now... Not sure what the sub process is for that.
