Everyone's free to nominate anything they want. I did (and will - it's an ongoing process). Hope you do, too.

To put a different spin on the phrase, may the fourth be with you. May the Hugos and written SF be restored to relevance and de-politicized in every way (or at least politicized for all, if people steadfastly refuse to just appreciate art and entertainment and to have fun).

Bigger better faster more!

Here is the final tabulation: The List.

Lest it seem like there weren't all that many nominating votes (looking at you, Mr. Glyer), this is just a casual online list which many people categorically ideologically refuse to visit despite there being no reason to avoid it when even the full SFWA's vaunted Nebulas make that ballot with 10-14, at most 30 (for novel) votes. The SP list, with 2-14, at most 25 (for novel) votes is not that dissimilar. Also, it's indicative that this is not a "slate" with homogenous people voting in lockstep.

Actually, this list doesn't impress me, personally, more than others except in three places: the long and short dramatic forms make a better, more diverse, group of nominees than I've seen for any award in years and the short story crop is quite strong overall and, while there are several decent options, I'm still crossing my fingers that "Today I Am Paul" by Martin L. Shoemaker (Clarkesworld) wins. A Nebula nominee and an SP4 nominee. :)

Also, while I'm more a fan of Baen as an enterprise that produces what their audience likes and treats them with respect (being in the vanguard of the anti-DRM movement which automatically makes me love them) more than for what they actually produce (really only caring for the old classics they reprint in affordable editions and only a bit of the current stuff), I think it would make sense to acknowledge the work of Toni Weisskopf (and, not that it should matter, but note that that's an "i" and not a "y" in Toni).
