The King is gone. The best singer of the lot, esp. back around 1962.
I can remember the moment when he split off from the other two Kings -Freddie and Albert - and became the undisputed King of the Blues.
I remember silly kids, all excited about the new rock n' roll, giving him a hard time, and BB crying, but then outlasting most every pop star by decades.
He was always great live, I saw him bring kids up on stage and he let them play his guitar, Lucille.
Everyone will jump on youTube I expect, and be a blues fan again for a few days. Now only Buddy Guy is left from those days. 'The Kings Jam' -with a young Jimi Hendrix, is typical of the man. Jimi was awful, and too loud then, but BB King made it all good and fun somehow.
Before he ever played any guitar on records, there were 78 RPMs around and they still sound great.
As long as his recordings are out there, the Thrill will Never be Gone. *****
