'I give you a mausoleum of all hope and desire which will fit your individual needs, no better than it did mine and my father before me. I give it to you not that you may remember time, but that you may forget it. For a moment, now and then, and not spend all of your breath trying to conquer it.' - Dale

"Bring your Kleenex and you'll be screaming at your television." - Norman Reedus

Glad to see Lennie James finally show up again and it was great to see him kick some ass. So that was our actual introduction to The Wolves Epic trap that Daryl and Aaron fell into and seeing Daryl use a chain to decapitate three zombies was awesome. Carol was excellent in this especially when she tells Pete "Come at me". Can't believe Nicholas shot Glenn! Very cool that Morgan was the one to save Daryl and Aaron. Superb gore in the scene where Gabriel decapitates the walker with the noose around its neck. Rick pushing his gun up into that walker's face before shooting it looked amazing. Very satisfying seeing Glenn beat up Nicholas and was disappointed that Glenn chose not to kill him. Another good speech from Rick at the end. Pete showing up and killing Deanna's husband was unexpected. I loved that Deanna told Rick to put him down. Morgan and Rick reunited! Loved the symbolism of Michonne taking the katana back down from the wall.

It took the murder of her husband, but Deanna was finally able to get in touch with her inner killer.

Interesting compromise. Deanna stays in charge, and Rick becomes Alexandria's new executioner.

Glad Glenn survived. I feared the worst when he told Maggie he loved her, which I saw as the equivalent of having a big red "X" spray-painted on his back.

I totally thought that about Glenn too! But then again, they're not out of the woods yet;) It could have gone bad with those two but it was satisfying to see them helping each other back to the community. I think most of the rough patches are ironed out just in time for them to band together against this new threat.

Well, except Morgan is clearly not wrapt to find Rick snuffing out precious life so indiscriminately. That's going to be an awkward situation.

Excellent ending to the series, glad to see it all come together (well, mostly) at the end, but I have to vent on a couple of things:

  1. How did Glenn survive? Did I miss something or was the last time you see him he is about to be devoured by walkers? Then next thing you know he's ambushing Nick?
  2. WTF moments. So random iron chains can now decapitate zombies. What next? Whilst i have been previously blasé about the use of various weapons and apparently egg shell like properties of the zombies, this just seemed a little over the top. What's next? Using harsh language to cause their heads to explode? ;)
  3. Why did Sasha go to Gabriel? Why would she or anyone else from the group go to Gabriel for guidance? They all know that guy's bat sh*t crazy, I could've understand Peter going there, and I know Sasha is supposed to be experiencing PTSD, but did she manage to lose her short term memory as well?
  4. Did Rick kill the wrong person? When I watched this I thought Deanna was talking about capping her husband before he turned, not killing Pete, anyone else think she might have meant the same. That could be an awkward opener to Season 6. "Err, Rick, I meant this one...?"
  5. Darryl and Aaron. Did they not spot that the trucks had those cans hanging from them and not think, ooh, someone's been here before us, maybe we should check the place out first before just randomly opening doors? Minor gripe that I can excuse as we are on the outside looking in, just thought Darryl at least would have some more common sense...

Crazy!

That's only word I can use to describe last season, because it was full of all kind of crazy situations just like they said it would be. And nobody had any idea how mental it would get. Not even I; although I have read the source material. But it was also so absolutely beautiful in horrific way that I cannot but wonder how we would fair in their world?

Probably not very well, especially with the Internet being down for most of the time.

See, I'm already crying, but that's because this episode deserves an Emmy. This series deserves with some sort of recognition that is other to its massive viewership. Maybe that is one thing but it would be nice to see Kirkman holding some sort shiny in his hands one of these days. After all The Walking Dead has improved so much from second season, where everyone plus a dog thought that Carol should go.

I don't think anyone of you would say that now, especially now when you saw her holding a knife to wifebeater throat and begging him to try to beat her. Long gone are those days from her mind, just like they are from Deanna's now that he's husband is lying dead on her feet and that is all thanks to her inability to see the real world out there.

None of the politicians see it and Deanna did wrong, when she thought that she can simply sit out and not seek facts to back her decisions. You can only imagine what sort of safe-heaven Alexandria would really be, if she had opted to send out more patrols than just Aaron and his mate.

Aaron indirectly admits to Daryl that's the case. He sent or should I say redirected survivors elsewhere under Deanna's council. He even gave them supplies to honour "all life is precious" deal, and I wouldn't be surprised, if we saw a few of them coming back in upcoming seasons. After all Alexandria didn't go up in smoke; even if grimly coloured Ricktator came to say last few words, before he did the deed and put Jesse down without a hesitation.

A sane man would had seen a reason to lock up the doctor and wait untill sanity returned in his head. But he didn't and he went out with the line "... and I was thinking how many of you I have to put down to save you," which fight directly against the roots of his believes.

Neverthless, that isn't the case with Glenn, as he gets the situation so clearly, and he's ending at the hands of random roamers would had been really, really sad. Unceremonial even.

We don't know if he gets out from the woods. What we know is that he did better than Rick, and that same thing applies to Maggy, for saving Gabriel's sorry ass for almost killing more of his flock. When does he start to see the light at the end of the tunnel?

Also can Morgan put sanity back in Rick's head?

PS. Sasha needs to see a shrink. Or a minister. :p

So random iron chains can now decapitate zombies

Over time flesh and skin get very mushy and you saw how easily a rope can saw through a neck. But we don't know if the zombification will soften their skulls so much over the time that a high speed chain could just slice through just like Michonne's katana? I think it's at least plausible, and the problem I would see in that is how much strength and skill Daryl would need to be able to grab one from the ground and use it SO effectively in close quarters. Yeah?

Yeah I get that this is just a show, I've been accepting of the fact that it's easier to puncture a zombies head than a balloon, I just get the feeling that they are starting to run out of even semi-plausible ideas. And three at once? Hey, I'm an easy-going guy but even that made me think WTF...?

I know. And you're not the first one who has questioned Kirkman's inventions, as there are a few of those cases through this series, but then again that's Hollywood magic. You just have to take some things as cool even if they're unrealistic.

Deanna was finally able to get in touch with her inner killer.

I love the way you put it because that's really the case. Her inner killer. :sneaky:

There has been far more than few of those close cut moments for him in this season. But I was punching air and shouting: "Yes," when he emerged from the woods.

Yep, but is it the case of one mad man leading another in the darkness of this world?

Great episode! Although I really thought we were going to see some kind of assault on Alexandria by the Wolves - especially when Gabriel left the gate open.... fortunately just a few walkers got in this time!

So much to talk about.. Nicholas and Glenn for starters.. where was Nicholas going? Did he deliberately climb the fence and hope that Glenn would see/hear him and follow, or was he off to meet these often mentioned exiles? Are the exiles part of the Wolves? How did Glenn survive a walker pile-on, after being shot too? This was some TV trickery that we have to accept I suppose, but it was one of the rare moments that didn't quite flow this week.

The early scene with Morgan and the 2 presumed Wolves.. great!!! He's come a long way from "Clear", and is lethal with a pole as well as being seemingly the most clear-headed guy left alive!

Daryl and Aaron. Norman Reedus' quotes about the finale being a tear-jerker (and some press speculation that he's put his Georgia house up for sale) really made me think he was done for.. It was careless of them not to spot the telltale signs of something not being right, with can's tied up and the sound of zombies in trucks. Quite an elaborate trap, and I liked the reset button the Wolves had when they returned later. Zombies are dumb and easily herded (as well as easily killed by random chains as noted!)

Quick mention of Carol, the caserole avenger and her little knife-point chat with Pete.. her character is fantastic, such a far cry from the early seasons, and her route to this point has made a great deal of sense too.

The fallout of Rick's rampage last week was pretty calm and measured on Deanna's side - in keeping with her politician nature. The town meeting seemed like a fair forum for everyone to have their say, but our guys did a lot of the talking in Rick's defence. Then Rick arrives with the zombie on his back, he knows how to make an entrance! His speech was mostly correct of course, but he could maybe have left out the part about how many of them he was going to kill!! But Pete showing up - with Michonne's katana too - and taking out poor old Reg, who was far too well adjusted for this world, sealed the deal.

I got the impression Deanna wanted Rick to take Pete out at this point. They'd had that conversation previously, and she finally saw that he wasn't a problem that could be ignored so she gave the order. And of course Rick had another gun handy (great earlier scene when Carol played dumb to Michonne & Glenn about the guns).

Hope everyone waited for the post-credit scenes.. This was when I realised that Pete had used Michonne's katana. She goes to hang it back on the wall, but instead she re-sheathed it over her shoulder. Balance restored. Also we get to see the red-hood guy captured by the Wolves and added to the food-warehouse trap scenario. And of course they find Aaron's backpack and the photos of Alexandria, now including a lovely shot of Rick and Carl! So presumably they won't waste much time at the start of next season in tracking the place down..

For some reason, I saw Morgan in this episode as sort of an apostle. Must have been the staff he used. Great to see him finally!

I agree with markpud! I fear the Wolves will be paying Alexandria a visit soon after one of them found the pictures.

I also noticed the cans and was wondering why Daryl at least didn't give mention to them. They were so obvious.

So glad Pete is gone, but sad he slashed Deanna's husband's throat. I liked him. :( I wished the preacher was gone instead, but then I saw them all praying and decided to give him another chance. Maybe he'll put Deanna's mind at ease and admit he was wrong.

The scene at the start between Morgan and the Wolves was one of the best in the whole series. It was up there with Rick's gunfight in the bar with the two renegades way back in series 2 I think. That was episode where Hershel falls off the wagon.

Rick get's at least one great speech every series and this one was a cracker. You could see him bending the Alexandrians to his will.

And they managed to slip a Brian Wilson song in. Class.

I find it hard to believe that the Wolves and the Alexandrians hadn't already crossed paths, as they seem to be in close proximity. I'd also assume, given Aaron's caution when he first met up with Rick's group, that there is no way to discern the location of Alexandria from his gear, but I guess we'll see. Knowing it's out there may be enough anyway, if they get their scouts out scouting...

Didn't see anything of the emo(?) girl in this last episode though,, I still think she might be a spy for them. Also, when Rick and Carl are talking Carl keeps saying "You have to tell them", did he just mean about their experiences? Sounded like something else to me (that we don't know about yet) but couldn't figure out for the life of me what that could be...

My only other thought is that maybe the Alexandrians are paying the wolves protection money (or bodies) in return for the safe life they are living, maybe that's what happened to the others...

I did think that also, until this week and we discover there is only the two of them! I had also expected the finale to be a huge battle between Alexandria and the Wolves, but two guys should be easy to deal with. And they are 50 miles away (isn't that what Aaron said) in a direction Aaron hasn't been before, so I can accept they never crossed paths. (Someone could be paying them protection, but Aaron is the only one who has been going out - apart from the girl and she is new.)

How Glenn survived? Why Sacha went to Gabriel for any kind of advice? These things are harder to take on board.
Did Rick kill the wrong person? When I watched this I thought Deanna was talking about capping her husband before he turned, not killing Pete, anyone else think she might have meant the same. That could be an awkward opener to Season 6. "Err, Rick, I meant this one...?"
No, I thought she meant her husband too. Pete, I would have just told him to leave Alexandria.

I have a question that bugs me quite a bit. Why didn't Rick get sick when he capped that zombie and got splashed with all that goo on his face and in his mouth? It cannot be doing good to him, especially when he has open wounds on his face.

That thought also occurred to me.

Maybe the zombie blood doesn't contain the active infection. Characters who have painted their bodies with blood and assorted walker parts to camouflage themselves suffered no ill effects.

Being bitten, though, seems to be a fatal event. Is zombie saliva the bodily fluid to be avoided?

Come on, Season 6. Coming to your screens in October. Yep, I was expecting the Wolves to turn up right at the end. It will be interesting to see if the 'barbarians' (Rick and Co) can educate the insulated townies to a point where they stand a chance of surviving the coming storm. There has to be a coming storm, right?
