Favourite Movie Scene (FOTR)

My favourite scene is Boromir's repentance as he lies dying. Two fantastic lines not in book. "Then you did what I could not" (let Frodo go with the ring) and "I would have followed you my brother. My Captain. My King!" Marvellous.

It was one of a very few things which Jackson changed and It worked: of course Boromir isn't going to be too fond of the idea of the King returning. That's his inheritance, his birthright being stolen by some muddy northerner. Very clever addition I felt.

The Mines of Moria and Gandalf's battle with the Balrog (y)

Yeah, awesome! After seeing that and then going back to Ralph Bakshi's (sic) version, that part became seriously underwhelming.

When I read it to my step kids, that's the bit they remember best, I really tried to capture the spirit of Jackson's interpretation.

My partner and her brother remember me reading that bit as well, they were downstairs and heard it all through the ceiling ha ha

"You Shall Not Pass" Is there a more iconic scene in the ENTIRE Lord of the Rings series? Proof positive of why Gandalf is the only character who i enjoy in every scene, and one of the very few characters who's characterisation Jackson didn't butcher.

Weathertop was exactly how i'd pictured it when i read the books originally.

the entire Lothlorien sequence... another perfect adaptation. Galadriel's power is evident, her strength too. The more than just wood elven nature coming from the Galadhrim is magical, and Jackson did an excellent job in later presenting the Mirkwood Wood Elves so very differently.
((will add tho that i despise Celeborn and Marton Csokas is possibly one of the most insipid actors i've ever had to endure, he pollutes good movies... Celeborn is essentially a non-character for the whole series, and isn't he supposed to be on the White Council too? and Cirdan? why aren't they in the first Hobbit movie? time and introductions i understand, but they could at least have been there))

Wholeheartedly agree with everything there. I just wanted to say that apparently one of the elves at the Grey Havens at the end of LotR is supposed to be Cirdan...

My favorite scene was the death of Boromir in the first film, The Fellowship of the Ring. (And I also liked the part where Boromir fell defending Merry and Pippin.) I really liked Sean Bean as Boromir and also Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn, and I liked Boromir's dying words to Aragorn. Another favorite scene is in The Two Towers when Aragorn and Gimli and Legolas think that Merry and Pippin are dead, and Aragorn emits a powerful shout as he sinks to his knees. In the third film, The Return of the King, I like Aragorn leading the charge against the armies of Mordor.
