Discussion Thread - 100 Word Anonymous Writing Challenge Feb 2015

As soon as you spoke, Mosaix, the March 75 theme appeared. :)

However, I can't see any problem in having our theme come up at the same time. Best to void the same ending date though. (the 23rd).
I agree that trying to vary the host is nice.

Hey gang! Before I post March's threads later tonight, any quick thoughts on the closing date for submissions, and the end-of-voting dates? What about March 18th as the end-date for posting stories, and March 22nd as the close-of-voting dates? It will make for a shortish challenge, but I think we need to keep out of the way of the 75 worder each month. Thank you! CC

I do like the guessing side of the 100.

A lot of people felt they did not have much time to guess so a short poll/vote time might further reduce that. I would suggest the key is to make clear that there is no obligation to guess or to guess all of them.

I agree, Cascade, and will mention that there's no-obligation-to-guess when creating the threads for this event. :)

Sounds good.

Hi J.L.! Hope everything's okay now, with the medical situation. Looking forward to seeing the match-up list of authors/stories.

We were up against time constraints to get this month's challenge underway (trying to finish by March 22nd, since voting for the 75 worder starts the 24th), so I volunteered to host the March 100 worder; I've started the threads for it. We'll figure out who will host the April challenge after this one is over. Hope you're well, CC

Congrats Mosaix! Nicely done.

My story (Keeping them Happy) didn't get any votes which is a bit of a bummer, but got a few honourable mentions and someone guessed correctly, so I think I can take some positive points from my first entry.

Just to say that I was amused that no one guessed mine this month - in the other months there was always at least one person who got it right! Mine was Directive 51. :D

Thanks for the mentions, by the way, and thanks CC for taking over; JL, hope all's well!

Absolutely, Pwaa, take heart! It was a very nice story.

Thanks for that JL. Hope you're feeling okay. Or at least a little better.

Thanks for putting the list up, J.L.. I hope you're feeling better.

I only guessed two correctly. :)

Finally, Remedy, I really loved Precipitate!

I got only one guess correct.

But I think I was close on others... if that's possible

Thank you CC and Johnnyjet for the votes and kind words. And thanks to all those lovely mentions from others. The names put beside my own entry were incredibly flattering.

Of my guesses, I got 3 correct:

A View from the Clouds - willwallace
Black Hoylian - chrispenycate
Done By The Book - mosaix

Tywin, I voted for Cloud Psychiatry - It carried all the things I like in a story. Seeing my name beside it in some of the guesses was thrilling because I wish I'd written it! :)

I feel like we sort of missed the discussion about the story inspirations last month... My entry, Precipitate, was inspired by a 75 entry I wrote for a challenge last year (July) for the theme: Family and genre: Sci fi or Fantasy

Its a different voice (very sombre), but ultimately about the same idea of humans having evolved into something else entirely...

I hope you won't mind me re-posting it here for a comparison:

Cherished Memory

We used to be bipeds. Ancient beings with solid form and deliberate motion. Now we are the sea of Amoeblings.

Oozing slowly amongst my siblings, we remember. Our glorious history protected in the nanoscopic reactions passing between our membranes. The story of our civilisation, repeating.

One fleeting image is stronger than most. Her face, the product of a trillion versions, yet undoubtedly we know her.

Warmth and kindness. Love, care and devotion. We remember mother.
