DISCUSSION -- January 2015 300-word Writing Challenge (#16)

Thank you Kerry, very kind :) I've been absent for a month and I've missed doing the challenges.

Got the idea last week and posted my third attempt.

I need to read all the entries, I think I'll make a coffee and enjoy them now :D
 
So I got my 300 worder all sorted last night, jumped on to the chrons ready to post it up only to be foiled by the server move banner.

Oh well gives me another day to consider it and see if I can find the extra 50 words I lost
 
well it's up. the word counting pixies should have no worries with this one. cutting words might be hard but i find it even harder to add words to a story that comes in under the 300.

Hmm, I just rolled into this one at the last second, and decided to take a stab at it... and now I realize my story doesn't quite fit into fantasy, science fiction, or speculative fiction!! Or, it kind of does, but not exactly... Hmm, to change the story, or to just go with it and hope it counts? Either way, I still have about 50 words to weed out!

Great picture by the way; I haven't read any of the entries yet but I'm excited to. :)
 
I just posted mine. It was in my head for a few days, and early, early this morning, I wrote it. Whew. A tough month for me, but I do like a challange though.

I'm anxious to see the other stories, I only skimmed over them to make sure I wasn't the same as anyone else's. Heh heh. I suppose I get too paranoid about that. Sheesh. Now to realx a bit by wandering around the site.
 
@Starbeast, I never read other entries until I've posted my story, not even skimming. It may be a dangerous way to play, but have this strange subliminal memory that I pinch ideas without realizing it. I'm safer with my stories un-colored by what I've read.

anyways, for whatever its worth i am in.... and i am guessing that and a buck fifty will get you a candy bar... or just the buck fifty.

victoria, thanks a lot for the great review! i hadn't realised how eagerly i wait for your words after posting!

starbeast, anne martin, i find it almost impossible not to read the entries if i have not posted mine early - doesn't seem to affect my own and generally once i get an idea i stop looking until i have at least written a draft

Oop! nearly missed it. Dropped by, caught the superb picture (more details please, harebrain!) and got an idea. Twenty minutes later, I hope you folks enjoy it.

I just can't look, for fear of being influenced by someone else's great story. Sometimes I have to fight the urge to look, because my curiosity gets to be overwhelming for me.

The first thoughts that popped into my mind when I looked at the photo, were ideas I think others might have, so I had to really had to think about what to dream up. Unfortunately, my time was taken up by other things, and I was taking too much time trying to think up something for the 75 challenge. When I fianlly put something together for the 75, it was too late to enter.

However, I'm so glad I made the deadline for this challenge.

Well I'm read through the stories and my goodness, narrowing it down to my favourites was not easy! There were so many good stories, but I think I've got my topped ones picked. :)

Don't worry The Judge, I was leaving room for new ones! I have everything put in order, but I'll read any new stories and add them to the list where appropriate! I wouldn't want to miss any. :)
