Never read any of his books, but I know the series is really popular.
They're fast-paced and a lot of fun.
Finished Gemini Cell last night; slightly different style to the others but very good.

He writes military fantasy; set in an alt. history world where magic exists and is under control of the military (if you manifest powers, you are obliged to become a soldier).

I believe he's an ex-soldier himself, and I've heard that he does the action scenes really well.
He's an ex military contractor who served abroad and now works for the Coast Guard. So he really knows his stuff. He has some great blog posts, too; look for one on PTSD on his website - very honest and real.
