My ranking (of what I've read):
1.Rain wild chronicles
2.Liveship traders
3.Tawny man
4.Farseer trilogy
...(more to come)

I've still to read a lot of Hobb's work, but out of the ones I've read I'd have The Tawny Man trilogy at number one, followed by the Farseer trilogy at number two, and the Liveship Traders at number three.

Now I just need to read the others.:)

I just did a re-read of the Fitz books (well almost done Fate) and I can't get over how great the Tawny Man series is. The Farseer are good but the connection I get to the Tawny are unlike any of the others. I hope it stays that way with the new series. I think the Rain Wild Chronicles are my least favorite. To be fair though, I did enjoy them, just lacked some of the character depth that I loved from the others.

The Tawny Man trilogy is my favourite.Although I have read everything Robin Hobb has written and love all of her writing.
Fitz is my favourite hero of all time.I think it's because he hasn't really had any choices about his role in life, but he rises to the challenges anyway.
When I started reading The Tawny Man trilogy it was like walking into a room where I knew all of the people.
When Nighteyes died I cried loudly.
I am so pleased there is another book out following Fitz' life.I have read it and enjoyed it so much,it is called Fool's Assassin. The Fool is another of my favourite characters.

I agree that the depth of character is what really makes Fitz much easier to relate to than most characters but I love the Rainwild chronicles. I am going to take a leaf out of your book Ratasy and re-read the other trilogies before I make my final judgement. Now just have to figure where they are. Should never have switched to e-books ;-)

1. Tawny man - hands down! Mostly due to enlarged role of the Fool. Hated the ending though... (but there is hope w Fools' Assassin)
2. Farseer trilogy - a close 2nd to Tawny. Hated the ending but glad tht Tawny Man came out.

By a wide margin...
3.Liveship traders

Have not read the rest as I am re reading Farseer and Tawny
