Weird western what lies beneath? What kind of Harebrained idea is that?

My list of people it's safe to vote for is getting progressively smaller.... :D

Yes!

I missed the Steampunk challenge but "Weird West" like Gas Light and ClockWork are often considered sub-genre thereof. :)

I already have a few ideas kicking around in my twisted head. It also helps I was just out window shopping for some black powder 6-shooters and a couple of 1886 reproductions. Ok Ok I admit it I was also looking at a few "Mares-legs, Colt 100 Anniversary 1911 (ACP) & 175 Anniversary Single Action US Army Revolver, Savage 30-06 and drooling like a buffoon over Barratt's new M107A1 but those aren't part of this discussion.

Well maybe the Single Action Army Revolver and Mares-leg. . .

This is going to be fun!

Hmm.

I don't understand anything you said, MstrTal. This does not bode well.

(Happy New Year, everyone!)

The bad news is when I googled Steampunk I sort of understood what I was reading; I don't understand a word I've just read. The good news is I have read one Weird Western book. But I didn't understand it.

This bodes very badly indeed.

AAAAAAAAAAAARGF! Why did I choose my theme and genre after staggering home from the pub on New Year's Eve???!!/!!?

Anyway, now we're here, my understanding of Weird Western is that it's basically Western with paranormal or fantastical elements. I'm surprised there haven't been several entries already.

Okay. Then it doesn't need to have guns, just handmade boots and those hats I can never remember the name of.

Oh.

I just had an idea.

Oh the farmer and the cowman should be friends....

Seriously good story start to the new challenge of the new year . . . might have to miss this one out too as am intimidated already!!

OK, Aunt Eller, but keep your hands off Seven Brides for Seven Bogles...

So no sobbin' werewolves? Shame. Would give a new angle to 'bless your beautiful hide'. Going to stop now.

I wish I hadn't read Springs' entry either. Too good. Darnframit.

AMB; nice tale, subtle, digging for gold, very good.

Abernovo; The vision of taking out his Weber and hunting for the alien, I love it, it'll stay with me a long time.

TY for feedback TE and BM, Hex, got my new year off to a lovely start.

Thanks springs. I agree with everyone else though, you did set the bar high. I'd count myself lucky if I even got near it.

ETA: Abernovo, I want to read what happens next.
